The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector plays a critical role in the development of skilled workforce and economic growth globally. However, despite its significant contributions, there remains a common misconception that TVET is less prestigious than academic education. This perception often discourages students, parents, and communities from considering TVET as a viable and respected pathway to success.
The TVET Marathon 2025 aims to raise awareness about the value of TVET, change perceptions regarding its importance, and highlight the tremendous progress made in the sector. By engaging a wide array of participants, the general public, secondary and primary schools, TVET trainees, educators, employers, and industry partners, the event will emphasize how TVET has evolved and continues to shape the future of work, innovation, and sustainable development in Kenya.
The TVET Marathon: Empowering Skills for a Better Future will serve as a pivotal platform to raise awareness, reshape perceptions, and celebrate the progress of the TVET sector. This event will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to unite in fostering a culture that values skills development and lifelong learning. Through collective action and increased visibility, TVET will be recognized as a vital force driving economic empowerment, job creation, and sustainable development in our communities.
The kick-off and finishing point of the marathon is set to be at K.I.C.C Courtyard on August 2.
The 21KM half marathon will be flagged off at 8am and it’s estimated to end at 9:30am.
